In memory of Mary Annis Moyars-Johnson
Mary Annis Moyars-Johnson, formerly an Associate Vice President in
Information Technology at Purdue University, passed away peacefully in
her West Lafayette home October 15, 2009. She was 71. Mary was a dear
friend and colleague.
As AVP at IT@P (Information Technology @ Purdue), Mary was one of our key partners early this century. In particular, Mary was a critical partner in collaborative displays at the IEEE SuperComputing Conference - the biggest conference in advanced computing in the world. For several years, IU, Purdue, and Notre Dame put on a joint display called "Research in Indiana" which focused on the accomplishments of these three great universities in Indiana. These displays were the first time that the leading research universities of one state had come together to promote a state as a whole - and they were a great success. These joint displays were in the early days of the development of a great relationship between IU and Purdue in advanced computing.
Mary's energy, charm, commitment to Purdue and the State, and willingness to dive in and get things done were critical to the success of our State's presence at the SuperComputing conference. And her commitment to partnership between Purdue and IU helped lead to things such as our partnership in the Indiana Economic Development Initiative. Most of all, Mary was simply a wonderful person, and she is greatly missed.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tippecanoe County Historical Foundation or to St. Thomas Aquinas Center at Purdue.
